Why do I feel like I could live forever?
Why do we sometimes feel like our lives could or should go on forever? You hear many people say they don't feel any different inside than they did when they were 10, 20 or 30 years old. I believe it is because we are eternal beings, living our lives in very fragile, faulty bodies that age literally to death at a much faster rate than any of us truly realize.
Life is definitely a journey, albeit at the speed of a short roller-coaster ride with an ubrupt end in this world, waking up in another one just as real, if not more, than the one we are in right now.
What Are Your Destination Plans?
You will go on, past this life and into the next one in what will seem in hindsight like the blink of an eye. This raises the questions: "What will happen to me after I die?" "What is beyond this life, my time of existence on this earth?" "Is there a heaven and a hell, and if so, how can I know what my destination will be when I pass from this life?"
I believe that a person has a chance to know just that. The following is written for just for you, the person that found that card and came to this site, so you can see this reality.
A Brief History and Simple Solution
The Problem God made man and woman, but not as machines, plants or mere animals. He made them like Him, giving us an eternal soul. He also gave them a free will, to decide on their own to choose right or wrong. The only problem was that they chose to do wrong, and doomed themselves and their descendants (us) to be separated from God, both now and for eternity after we died.
The Solution The good news is that God already knew this, and made a provision for us. He knew when he created us with our own special will and freedom of choice, that we would choose to separate ourselves from God. But being the one who created us, He loved us in spite of ourselves. He knew that the cause and effect of our choosing wrong, or sin, had to be paid for somehow and did not want us to pay by being separated from Him forever.
The Price The only way to do this would be to come down to earth Himself, live the only perfect life ever lived, and die a cruel punishment death to pay for our sins, our choice to do wrong, so we could accept that payment and no longer be separated from God, both now and after we die on this earth. Of course I am talking about Jesus Christ.
"He was in the world, the world was made by him, and the world did not know Him...But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. " - The Bible, John 1:10,12-13
What Does That Mean for Me?
This means that now you have a way to know just how to get to heaven when you die. It's not by being good, or hoping that your good deeds will outweigh your bad deeds. It doesn't work that way. This fault in ourselves, this sin, this thing that makes you age and die, will make you age and die and be separated from God no matter what the concentration. I doesn't matter if it's 1 thing or 10,000 things, it still contaminates us and separates us from God. This is why we needed a perfect payment, a substitute to pay the price for us, and God knew and was willing to pay that price for us. He loves you and does not want you to be separated from Him. If you come to God and tell Him you realize these things, and accept His payment for your sins, He will accept you, and God's very Spirit will be in you, and you will have a relationship with God that you never dreamed existed, and one that will last forever. This may very well be the most important moment of choice in your life. This is what being "Born Again" actually means.
